COVID-19 Updates

Phase Four Centre Operating Conditions

Under Phase Four government restrictions the Centre will further relax some protocols currently in place from Saturday 27 June. This includes the necessity to staff the gym while users are completing workouts plus the reinstatement of kiosk tables/chairs and courtside seating.

Staff will continue to maintain a strong cleaning and hygiene regimen and encourage social distancing where possible.

There are however still some controls in place to protect you and Centre staff from COVID 19 should it become a problem in the community, thus please note that we continue to ask that all visitors to the Centre –

  • Do not come to the Centre if you are feeling unwell, exhibit Coronavirus symptoms, have recently had contact with someone with Coronavirus or are returning from overseas and should be in isolation
  • Do not congregate in the entry foyer or in groups within the Centre where not necessary
  • Sanitise hands on entry and practice good hygiene
  • Wipe down workout equipment after use and
  • Continue to maintain good social distancing, keeping 1.5m from others

Centre Operating Hours – from Saturday 6 June 2020

Monday to Friday – 6 am to 7 pm

Saturday and Sunday – 8 am to 12 noon

Aquatic area closes 15 minutes before Centre

These hours will remain in place until the start of Term 3 (20 July 2020).

Aquatics

All pools will be available with a limit of 100 people in the Aquatic area.

Members and customers are no longer required to book in for sessions and can come to the Centre as desired. It is important to note that at some times different user groups will be using all or part of a particular pool, so please check our pool lane availability ( https://www.murrayleisurecentre.com.au/pool-lane-availability/) for any bookings/unavailable times.

Please note changerooms and showers will be available from 6 June 2020.

Gymnasium

Will be reopening to members and casuals from Saturday 6 June.

Conditions of access

  • All patrons must complete an Adult Pre-exercise Screen prior to recommencing/using.
  • All patrons must bring their own towel to every workout and use it as a barrier on equipment were possible.
  • Patrons must wipe down/sanitise equipment immediately after each use.
  • Patrons are required to not float between stations/equipment, instead finish using a piece of equipment and cleaning before moving on.
  • Patrons are required to maintain physical distancing where possible.
  • Members are encouraged to undertake a reappraisal to renew their workout programmes.

Creche will reopen from Monday 8 June and will operate Monday to Friday between 8.45am – 11.45am.

Sports

Competitions will commence in July with Ladies Netball, Mixed Netball and Mens Basketball being run.

Swimming Lessons

Will commence in Term 3, Monday 20 July.

A staff member will contact existing customers over the coming weeks to discuss the enrolment options, with new enrolments being accepted in the second half of June.

The Centre will also implement a perpetual program which will remove reenrolment requirements and support greater child progression. More information on to come shortly.

Our top priority is the safety and well-being of members of the public and our employees.

This page outlines all the modified programs and services available as we navigate our way back out of the COVID-19 restrictions shutdown. Therefore while everything is still a little different than normal, we ask that you please refer to this page for all the up to date information about facilities and services operating, group fitness timetables and booking procedures etc.

General Conditions of Access

Change room facilities including showers are not available for use, therefore patrons must get ready prior to coming into the Centre and change after their session away from the Centre. Toilets will still be available.

Patrons who are feeling unwell, have symptoms of the Coronavirus, have recently had contact with someone with Coronavirus or returning from overseas must not enter the facility.

Customers must abide by 1.5m distancing requirements and all directional signage and instruction from staff while in the Centre.

There will be limited waiting areas, therefore customers are asked to arrive near your session time to avoid over crowding the reception area. In instances customers may be asked to wait outside at a safe distance prior to their session time.

All customers entering must sign in to register their entry at the Centre and also undertake a declaration confirming their health status, and compliance with measures put in place to manage the current modified access arrangements.

Customers who demonstrate they can’t abide by measures put in place to comply with government restrictions will have their access rights removed until operations return to ”normal”, at a time to be determined.

Customers must use hand sanitiser when entering the Centre.

Aquatics

As per restrictions, only one pool is available at a time with a maximum of 20 persons in the 25m Lap pool and 12 persons in the Hydrotherapy pool. This includes spectators; therefore, spectators will only be permitted entry in extenuating circumstances.

Access will be by sessions commencing at the start of each hour.

Sessions will run for 55 mins with 5 mins for swimmers to clear the area.

Swimmers/patrons are required to book into a session in order to reserve a place, with unfilled spaces being available for walk-ins.

Reserved places must be paid for at the time of booking.

Patrons can only book in for one session during peak times (after 4pm Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings)

Shire of Murray Ratepayers, Residents and MALC Members can only be booked into a maximum of 3 sessions at one time/in advance and only up to 7 days in advance.

Non-Shire of Murray Residents, non-Shire Ratepayers and non-Members can only be booked into a maximum of 3 sessions at one time/in advance and only up 24 hours in advance.

Swimmers must wear a provided wrist band identifying time/session of entry.

Group Fitness

A modified timetable will be operating (see below). The timetable can change dependent on a number of factors including demand and instructor availability.

Customers are required to book into sessions to reserve their place.

Shire of Murray Ratepayers, Residents and MALC Members can only be booked into a maximum of 5 sessions at one time/in advance and only up to 7 days in advance.

Non-Shire of Murray Residents, non-Shire Ratepayers or non-Members can only be booked into a maximum of 3 sessions at one time/in advance and only up 24 hours in advance.

Participants must stay within their designated workout areas in the class.

Instructors will set out equipment for participants prior to each class.

If you would like to use a mat in Core or Metafit+Core, please bring your own to ensure best hygiene practices.

Please remember to bring a towel to every class.

Participants must leave any equipment used by them during a class in their designated workout space, Staff will thoroughly clean and disinfect equipment prior to being stored.

Courts

Training groups will be permitted to use the courts as long as they adhere to the maximum 20 participants and do not undertake physical contact/games, as per the requirements.

Limit of one family/household per half court, restricted to one-hour bookings.

No shared equipment.

Booking system will be in place, fees as per current schedule.

What will be the Centre hours?
The Centre will be open:
  • Monday – Friday – 6am – 7pm
  • Saturday – 8am – 12pm
  • Sunday / Public Holidays – Closed
Bookings can be made from Tuesday 19 May 2020 onwards (if calling Tuesday please call between 8am-4pm thereafter the Centre hours listed above will apply until further notice).
What facilities will be available to use?
The Lap and Hydrotherapy Pools will be available during scheduled times. There is a limit of 12 people in the Hydrotherapy Pool and 20 people in the Lap Pool.  Aquatic sessions will be limited to 55 minutes, with coloured wristbands to be worn at all times.
A modified Group Fitness/Aqua Fitness timetable will be provided (limited participants).
You will not have access to gym, creche, changerooms / showers.
How many pools can we use?
We will rotate availability between the Lap Pool and Hydrotherapy Pool.  A schedule of availability is provided on the COVID-19 Update page. The Leisure Pool will not be available for use at this time.
Why do I have to book?
The Centre is operating under the WA Government guidelines which limits participants. A booking system will allow us to manage the numbers in each area and ensure that you are not turned away from the Centre if we are at maximum capacity for that session.
How many aquatic bookings can I have? 
Shire of Murray Residents, Ratepayers and MALC Members are able to book a maximum of 3 sessions at one time/in advance up to 7 days in advance. Non-Shire Residents, non-Shire Ratepayers or non-Members are able to book a maximum of 3 sessions at one time/in advance up to 24 hours in advance.
How many group fitness bookings can I have?

Where are the Group Fitness classes being held? 
BodyPUMP, Core and Metafit classes will be held in the upstairs group fitness studio. Cycling classes will be held in the Clubrooms.
How do I pay for my booking?
Members wishing to return to services will have their memberships unsuspended, with direct debits recommencing 2 June. A pro-rata payment will be required to be paid at the time of unsuspending a membership to cover the fortnight between 18 May and 2 June 2020. Casual patrons will be required to pay over the phone for their sessions at time of booking. Current Fees and Charges apply.
How much does it cost to use the Centre?
Aquatic entry is $5.00 for casual users and $4.00 for Concession Card Holders. Hydrotherapy entry is $8.50 for casual users and $6.80 for Concession Card Holders. Group Fitness classes are $15.00 for casual uesers and $12.00 for Concession Card Holders, with 30 minute classes all $12.00. The Aqua Fit class is $8.00 for Seniors.
Why are there peak and off peak hours?
The Centre expects that patrons may wish to access the services to fit in with their workouts before or after work. As a result, during these peak periods (after 4pm Monday – Friday and Saturday)  patrons will be limited to one session (55 minutes). During off peak periods patrons may be able to extend into a second session, depending on bookings / availability. Extensions will be at the discretion of MALC staff.
Why do we have to come on the hour?
The Centre has developed hourly sessions to make it easier for the community to access the services. Please be aware that should you arrive mid-session, you may be asked to leave at the end of that 55 minute session to allow further patrons into the Centre. Extensions into the next session will be at the discretion of MALC staff and subject to availability.
Why can’t I use the changerooms / showers?
Government restrictions are currently in place for all changerooms / showers and the Centre is abiding by these guidelines.
What safety measures are in place for patrons using the facilities during this time?
Patrons will be required to use hand sanitiser upon entry, sign-in to register entry to the Centre and complete a declaration confirming their health status and compliance measures.
Group Fitness participants will be required to complete a Stage 1 Pre-Exercise Screening questionnaire prior to their first class.Group Fitness equipment will be spaced accordingly, with staff completing cleaning of all equipment following each class. Customer Service and Aquatic staff will conduct regular cleaning of common areas and touchpoints.
Social distancing spacing has been marked on communal floor spaces. We ask that patrons follow these markings when in the Centre. Access to the aquatic area is via the door in the kiosk area, with the exit being the normal aquatic entry door. A partition has been placed between the areas and the aquatic door will be set as exit only.
What happens if I don’t do as required?
Customers who demonstrate that they can’t abide by the measures will have access rights removed until operations return to normal.
What should I do if I have recently returned from overseas?
Anyone who has been overseas in the past 14 days must:
  • Stay at home (self-quarantine)
  • Avoid public settings – this means you should not attend work, school, childcare, or go to other public places such as restaurants or shopping centres and should not use public transport or taxis.
  • Do this for 14 days after arriving in  Australia (other than when seeking medical care)
  • Only people who usually live in the household should be in the home. Do not allow visitors into the home.
  • You should stay in a different room to other people as much as possible.
Will the gym be accessible at any time?
No, the gym is currently unavailable for use.
Can I use creche?
There are no creche services provided at this stage.
When will Swimming Lessons recommence
It is hoped lessons will return in Term 3 subject to restrictions being further reduced in Phase 3.
